Description

Throughout our lives, certain life events cause what we call trauma. From a shamanic perspective, trauma is a loss of self, the loss of a fragment of the soul: because the pain is too great, a fragment of the soul escapes and leaves the body to avoid suffering. In psychology, this protective mechanism is called "dissociation." While most of the time the dissociated fragment finds its way back over time, sometimes it gets lost and remains dissociated from the rest of the person's body and soul. In everyday life, the loss of soul fragments manifests as: difficulty feeling present with oneself/chronic depression/addiction/trauma/memory loss/weakened immune system/a feeling of emptiness that needs to be filled/difficulty moving forward/multiple personalities/repeated bad luck/feelings of fragmentation or being scattered/an inability to reach one's full potential. The role of the practicing shaman is to seek out these missing fragments and bring them back so that the consultant feels whole again and in possession of all his or her power and means. **** Throughout our lives, some of the events we experience can cause trauma. From a shamanic perspective, a trauma can result in a soul loss: for the pain being too strong, a fragment of the soul escapes the body to avoid suffering, as the pain is unsustainable. It is a very similar process to the psychological concept and protective mechanism called ‘Dissociation’. If, most of the time, the fragment finds its way back with time, it may also be unable to come home. It can get lost, stuck, or being held in another world or dimension. In our reality, Soul loss can manifest with: difficulty to feel ‘present’ in the body / chronic depression / addiction / trauma / memory loss / low immunity / a feeling of a void inside that needs to be filled / difficulty moving on / multiple personalities / repetitive bad luck / feeling of being fragmented / inability to reach full potential. The role of a Shaman Practitioner is to go to look for these missing fragments and retrieve them to the client so they can feel whole again and have their power and potential fully restored.
